Reviews, Referrals & References

One of the greatest compliments you can give to someone who is providing you with a service is one of the Big R’s! A positive Review, Referring another consumer, and by being a positive Reference for another consumer. The most important thing to remember is to make sure you leave your name!

If you do not leave your name with the person you are referring, on the review you are leaving, or giving a reference to, the company has no idea who to thank. Make sure you write it down or having them store it in their phone. Most companies are more than happy to compensate with an appreciate gift for your words and your time (WE DO).

Make sure you are honest in your review, referral, and reference process. This helps other consumers paint a better picture of what to expect. It also helps companies know what they are doing right or wrong and how to make improvements within themselves.

So how do you go about writing a review for a company? First thing is First, “Google it”. Just by googling a companies name you can have the option to leave a review on google.,1,,,

There are also many review companies you can utilize to get your opinion out there! You can ask the company you used or you can use one of the one the many trusted online resources:,,,

Remodeling at its Finest

Structure Builders has been remodeling homes in South Texas since 1994. We started off focusing on siding and windows, and then doing the occasional bath or kitchen remodel. As our company grew and we became more and more popular we started skill trading our installers. Finding their unique skill and passion and helping them grow as individuals.

As their passion for their individual skills grew, the better each of our remodels came out. Before you knew it we became one of the most popular companies in South Texas for Remodeling and Room Additions. The combination of our skilled installers and Rudy Paiz eye for design, we are able to proudly hold A+ and 5 star ratings and reviews on many platforms.

Protect yourself against COVID-19

We are ALL ready for this COVID-19 to be over and to get back to our daily routine lives. It has caused issues in homes, businesses, social relations, & most importantly our children. In the meantime, we thought it would be best to provide everyone some information that could help them make the best of the situation.

Most schools are currently working on instruction for their students to be able to work on from home. There are a number of websites that you can visit to help grow your children’s mind during this “extended spring break”.

For those who do not have internet please see the link below; Spectrum is offering FREE internet to help.

There has been a lot of mayhem at the grocery stores in getting everyday supplies. Still not sure why the toilet paper ran out so quickly ? Luckily there are some solutions to help with this dilemma as well.

The saying that the early bird gets the worm applies here. The earlier you shop the better. Stores have put a limit to items. There should be a good chance you will be able to get what you need.

Check with your child’s school. Most schools are providing free “on the go” meals for breakfast and lunch.

If that doesn’t work, don’t forget, HEB & Walmart have curbside and delivery for some areas!

CREDIT / Personal Safety

I know when you think about COVID-19 you don’t think about your credit score or credit safety. Unfortunately we live in a world where scammers take advantage of situations like this. Check your credit card accounts and bank accounts often.

Don’t open the door for anyone you don’t know. This is the time that scammers and criminals try to do home invasions. Don’t panic, just be prepared and protect yourself. Do not take any calls, or answer the door for anyone that claims to be CDC or working towards benefits during this time. DO YOUR RESEARCH.

Don’t make any rash decisions. Join networking groups on Social Media that apply to your area of business. We are all in the same boat. The way our business survives is by teamwork. Businesses that stick together during this time will survive.

We want to ensure our customers that Structure Builders is doing what it takes to stay clean and sanitized. We are proud that we have made great decisions in our past that has prepared us for a situation like this. Structure Builders is here to stay.

Last but not least, it is important for you to take care of yourself and your family members. Keep the elderly indoors, always wash your hands, remind your children about the importance of hygiene and not putting their hands in their mouths (impossible with toddlers, right). A simple reminder will go a long way.

Speaking of toddlers. Moms & Dads! We feel you! Keeping these little minds entertained will all the fun places are closed is a huge challenge. Don’t worry Structure Builders is here to help with that too! Don’t forget to check Pinterest too![]=toddler%7Cautocomplete%7C1&term_meta[]=activities%7Cautocomplete%7C1

DIY or Hire?

There are many projects in the home that can be improved with just a simple update. Interior painting for example can be a fun experience if you have the time. Check out our tips on balancing the differences on DIY and Hire out.

Time is your number one factor when it comes to a DIY project. If you do not have the time, that fun project will become a chore and a hassle. Take 15 to 30 minutes and think about your project. Sketch a simple design, or jot down some quick notes. Be sure to include your material list and color scheme. Always start with an “END” project in mind.

How much labor & time is this project going to take? Does it fit your lifestyle schedule? Can you make arrangements to complete this project in a timely manner? If you answered “No” to any of these questions, leave it to the professionals. Overwhelming yourself with a project you do not have the time for will leave you frustrated, and possibly with an unfinished, or a project not up to your expectations from taking shortcuts.

Plumbing/Electrical does your project include adjusting any plumbing or electrical lines? If “YES” leave it to the professionals. Some projects may require a permit. Check with your cities Developmental Services and talk your project over with them. This will save you a hefty fine, or a flooded or burnt down house.

Some Plumbing & Electrical projects are okay to handle on your own. Home Depot has some great “HOW TO” videos on replacing a sink and shower fixture. These types of projects and add a great change. Also, try adding a new vanity mirror to give your bathroom a fresh new look.

Exterior Projects are a great way to increase the value of your home and to add instant curb appeal. Some of these projects can be easy to take on. Landscaping, Painting, Beautiful hanging lights, and outdoor decor or outdoor furniture for example are some great ways you can add flare to your front or even back yard.

Others however, can be a lot to take on and require again “Time”, but also some heavy duty tools. Things to think about when taking on larger exterior home improvement projects: Do you have the transportation to haul materials to your home? Do you have the tools to complete this project? Can you afford these tools or will you use these tools again? If you answered “NO” to these questions, leave it to the professionals. ***TIP: If you are going to dig anywhere in Texas, be sure to call 811 first.

World of Windows

Most homeowners typically think remodels when it comes to home improvements. Kitchens, Covers, and Baths, OH MY! That’s the fun stuff, right? Yes, however, there is one service that gets “looked through” time and again and can be just as much fun. Windows!

Windows have so many benefits and can increase the curb appeal of your home instantly! Check out our Top of 5 reasons to consider windows as your next priority home improvement project.

1.ROI (Return on Investment)

Investing in replacing your windows will instantly increase the value of your home. Most homeowners get an average of 75% of their money back from investing in upgrading their windows. Fortune Builders have named window replacement as one of the top 8 ways to simply increase the value of your home. However, you must choose the right ones. Choosing the wrong or a cheaper window can result in a loss.

2.Energy Efficiency

Homeowners in Texas can save 10%-25% of their heating and cooling cost just by switching their single pane, or even outdated double hung windows. Most older homes have drafty single pane windows. These windows let a lot of air escape in and out of the home. Times have changed and so have the quality of windows. Have a new cookie cutter home? Chances are it is equipped with generic builder grade windows with no energy efficiency. Builders typically use a cheaper product when doing a mass number of homes. It’s not a quality a homeowner is typically looking for until “after the fact.”

3.Noise Reduction

Replacing your windows can reduce the outside noise up to 80%, especially if your are living in the city limits. Every day traffic and daily sounds can take some getting used to. If you replace your windows, you don’t have to settle and use your subconscious to block out the noise, the windows will do it for you. Use that extra brain power for the more important things. Loud neighbors, or neighbors with noisy pets? Our windows will help keep the peace with your neighbors. Don’t just take our word for it, here is what one of our customers had to say:

“My neighbors dog used to keep me up all night, and drive me crazy during the day. When I used Structure Builders to replace my windows, I forgot they had a dog. Until I had to go outside” -R. White

4. Instant Curb Appeal & Interior Appeal

We spend so much money on making our yards look nice. Water cost, grass, flowers, mulch, stones, fertilizer, sprinklers and the list goes on and on… But have you ever seen what changing your windows could do? Look below:

Not only do windows improve the exterior of your home but it could change your interior world and look to a whole new level. Give us call and we can show you a “whole new window world” (see what I did there 😉 )

5. Security, Insurance, & Warranty

Now depending on where you live, and which windows you decide to get, one or more of these will apply to you. This is why we grouped them together instead of making this list top 7 reasons to change your windows.

Warranty: Our windows have a 10 Year Labor Warranty and a limited lifetime manufacturers warranty. #winning!

Security: Our windows come with a multi point interlocking system. This system insures that you are getting a tight seal against weather and intruders. However, this does not prevent an intruder breaking the glass and going through that way. If you wanted a safety glass, we offer another window in the same family with keep safe glass. This glass is impact resistant. Which brings me to my next point….

Insurance: Insurance companies are all about security and safety, right? They want you to have the safest home possible so they are less likely having to pay out later. This is better for you too because this means your rates will most likely go down. Having impact glass on your windows can discourages intruders.

These impact windows also protect your home from storms. Most of the damages caused to homes are the result of broken windows. Insurance companies love our impact windows, because again, this is less money they have to pay out later, thus making your rates go down. Check out this testimony from a Hurricane Michael Survivor.

Keeping your family and belongings safe is definitely worth the investment.

Tips on Selecting the Right Contractor

Rumor has it that all contractors are bad! This couldn’t be further from the truth! There are some who are up to no good but, there are also many companies who genuinely love the home improvement business and want to help you achieve your remodeling dreams. But how can you tell the two apart? Follow these tips and you will surely have a great experience remodeling your home!

Tip 1: Leave Friends and Family Out

Don’t hire friends or family to do your project. If you love your friends, which I’m sure you do because you can pick and choose those, don’t use them! Keep your friends, friends and maintain that level of love and friendship. Keep business out of family affairs. There are a lot of other things you can enjoy giving each other a hard time about, remodeling or home improvements shouldn’t be one of them. Leave the Remodeling, updating, and all the other home improvements to the professionals!

Tip 2: Research Reviews

Do your Research! Reviews were designed to protect you. Google has designed its program to filter spam review so the ones you see are accurate. Facebook reviews come from people like you. BBB and Angieslist reviews are also the best places to look. BBB is more accessible, whereas Angieslist requires a membership but might be worth your investment. Read both the good and the bad reviews. The bad reviews will let you know, “the worst” that could happen. Make sure that you are also following the reviews of customers who actually had work completed with the company. Sometimes, customers aren’t a good fit for a company. Companies have the right to choose you, just like you choose them.

Tip 3: Find a Company with a NARI membership

Selecting a company with a NARI membership will save you loads of headache in the long run. Those are the companies that are here to stay. They are not your fly by night contractor. They are legitatement businesses who are looking to provide a quality service. They must follow a code of conduct that protects homeowners like you.

Looking to do a major remodel? Here are some tips to get started in the right direction.

1. Determine your pre-existing issues….. Examples:

2. What style are you looking for? Pinterest some pictures. Create a style board that will help put your ideas into reality.

3. Include features that will benefit you, your family, and your pets. (easy to grab snack drawers for kids, wheelchair accessibility for disabled family members, hidden gates, easy to clean cabinets and floors.)

4. Get Estimates! It is important to consider your budget, but some times cost may not be as apparent as we would think. Find (3) good local contractors to get estimates. The BBB and Angie’sList are great places to start. Also check your local city to see if the contractor is registered with the city. This will give you an idea of how you should budget. Don’t forget to call Structure Builders! 210.733.9641 Coastal 361.881.8181

5. When you are ready to start your project, consider a storage room or container for the belongings you currently have in the area you want to remodel. This should include any items hanging or pushed up against walls on the opposite side. This will protect your items from collecting dust or accidently getting damaged.

Following these tips will help with any project including, Kitchen Remodeling, Bathroom Remodeling, Garage Conversions and General Renovations.
